About Hobbs Manor
Hobbs Manor is a non-profit independent living community for seniors in Brandon, Manitoba. We offer 100 suites in a six-storey building designed to make daily life comfortable, connected, and secure.
At its heart, Hobbs Manor has always been a community first, and that hasn't changed in over four decades.
Hobbs Manor is proud to be:
- Resident-driven: A very active Resident Council gives all residents a real voice in community life.
- Affordable: Fixed rent, straightforward pricing and no costly or complicated eligibility requirements.
- Conveniently located: Walking distance to public transit, parks, shopping, recreation, and churches.
- Community-governed: Our board is made up of experienced volunteers representing First Baptist Church, St. Matthew's Cathedral, and local business and government sectors.

Hobbs Manor was built by people who saw a need and decided to meet it.
A group of Brandon residents, members of First Baptist Church and St. Matthew's Cathedral, recognized that seniors in their community needed quality, affordable housing.
They incorporated in 1981 as a non-profit, raised $235,000 through donations from local individuals and small businesses, and worked with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation and Manitoba Housing and Renewal Corporation to bring Hobbs Manor to life.
The building was planned with care. The goal was to create a residence that felt secure, safe, convenient, and genuinely pleasant to live in, built around the idea of a caring and sharing community.
That foundation hasn't changed. The founding church communities remain on our Board of Directors, and residents shape community life through an elected Resident Council.
